Montadhar Al Zidi (Mountazer al-Zaïdi)(29 ans) né dans le quartier de Kazamiyah à Bagdad,est le journaliste qui a lancé ses chaussures sur George W. Bush dimanche 14 décembre 2008 ) Baghdad. Lors de sa visite d'adieu aux dirigeants irakiens, cinq semaines avant son départ de la Maison Blanche, le président américain a été la cible de Montadhar Al Zidi,correspondant de la chaine télévisée irakienne AL Baghdadia. Ce dernier a jeté, sans l'atteindre, ses deux chaussures sur Bush et l'a traité de "chien", lors d'une conférence de presse commune avec le Premier ministre irakien Nouri al-Maliki.

Dans la culture arabe, être qualifié de "chien" ou se voir lancer une chaussure est l'insulte suprême. Assis au troisième rang, l'irakien a bondi en criant "c'est le baiser de l'adieu, espèce de chien".

منتظر الزيدي، مراسل عراقي لقناة البغدادية 29 عام، اشتهر بقذفه زوجي حذاءه صوب الرئيس الأمريكي جورج بوش أثناء انعقاد مؤتمر صحفي في بغداد في 14 ديسمبر من العام 2008 فأصاب أحدهما علم الولايات المتحدة خلف الرئيس بعد أن تفادي الحذاء، وبحسب القنوات الفضائية ( الرافدين والبعدادية ) فقد كسرت ذراعه أثناء إعتقاله من قبل الحرس القائمين على الرئيس الامريكي جورج بوش ورئيس الوزراء العراقي نور ي المالكي.

وقد اودع في احد السجون في العراق بعد الحادث مباشرة ، ويذكر ان الرئيس بوش أكمل المؤتمر الصحفي مع المالكي . وفي تعليق لبوش على الموقف قبل 17 يوم على انتهاء ولايته الدستورية قال ( هذا أغرب شيء أتعرض له . ويذكر أنهذه هي الزيارة الرابعة لجورج بوش إلى العراق منذ عام 2003

The brave Iraqi journalist Montadhar Al-Zaydi has shown to the world the emperor is naked. He’s been now taken hostage in his own country by the sectarian Quisling government of the Green Zone. Not only should he be released immediately; he must be honoured by any decent human being as a hero.

The campaign will proceed in demand of the release of the Iraqi Journalist, Muntather Al-Zaidi who hurled a pair of shoes at George Bush on 12/14/2008 in Baghdad in reaction to Bush’s immoral invasion of Iraq and the war-crimes committed by the occupying forces with the aid of local warlords.
